2018 APS Foundation Student Travel Award Application
Thank you for your interest in the APS Foundation Student Travel Award for ICPP 2018 . The Foundation is pleased to provide $500 awards based on this competitive process.
Since some aspects of the application process are lengthy, we encourage
you to review the requirements below, prepare your responses in your own
word processing application and then return to this form and simply cut
and paste the content into the form for submission. The form
times-out after 20 minutes; by cutting and pasting you will avoid the
potential for losing any data that you enter. Please note: Incomplete applications
(missing abstract, hot topic, or advisor letter) will not be accepted.
Deadline for Submission: This website will be closed at 4:00 PM Central Standard Time (CST), on March 20, 2018. These deadlines are strictly enforced; no applications will
be accepted after the deadline. Make sure your application is submitted prior to this deadline. Thank you!

Hot Topic |

|
Make the case for a topic that you feel needs to be
presented as a symposium at a future APS Annual Meeting (maximum 2999
characters with spaces). You must include
the following:
- What topic would you choose for such an event?
- What is the significance of this topic with respect to current
scientific and /or social contexts?
- What are the implications of the topic for plant pathology
and human or environmental welfare?
- Why should APS host a symposium on this topic?
- Provide names of actual speakers you think can address different
aspects of your chosen topic, and explain how their expertise will
enrich the symposium.

|
Your graduate advisor or other sponsor in the field of plant pathology is
requested to write a letter on your behalf explaining the following:
- What is the bearing of the student's research and/or study program on plant pathology as
it pertains to human and/or environmental welfare?
- How does the student's research and/or study program fit into the research goals of your
facility or academic institution? Please note: For students in nonthesis degree programs the advisor/sponsor should comment on the student's potential for a successful career in applied plant pathology.
- Also include a statement regarding the academic merit
(accomplishments/skills of the student).
Please identify your faculty sponsor and their e-mail below. APS
will e-mail the person you identify and provide a link to a form for them
to submit their response directly. Your advisor's letter is due by NOON Central Standard Time on
Friday, March 23. You will receive notification when your advisor has submitted their information. If you have not received confirmation make sure to remind your advisor about the deadline and confirm they received the e-mail. No applications will be accepted without completed advisory sponsor letter. |
